How to install Logon Key?
 1. Download Logon Key from ProteMac.com
2. Run the Logon Key.dmg file from the desktop, or download location.
3. Follow the prompts to install the program.
4. During installation type your name and password after administration law request to continue installation.
That’s it. Logon Key is installed. You may delete the Logon Key.dmg file from your desktop or download location.
What to do after installation?
Go to the Application folder and select Logon Key by double-clicking its icon. In the window appeared firstly, select the user and then specify the action after USB flash drive removal. Click the Add button to choose the key and confirm your choice by clicking the OK button. Press the Apply button and type your password to get the confirmation that new settings have been saved.
How to launch the program?
To start LogonKey, insert your USB-dongle and select the program by double-clicking its icon in the Application folder.
How to specify the name and USB - key?
Go to the Application folder and select Logon Key by double-clicking its icon. In the window appeared firstly, select the user and then click the Keys button to choose the key from the list. Remember, that there can be only one Key for each user. To confirm your choice click the Apply button and type your password to get the confirmation that new settings have been saved.
How to change or delete the USB Key?
1.Launch the program and in the main LogonKey window hit the Keys button and select Not Signed (in case you want to delete the previous key) from the drop-down list.
2.Choose the new key from the list and click the Apply button. After that enter your password identical to the one you type when logging in.
3.Click OK and get Confirmation that new settings were successfully saved. Click OK.
How many users may apply the same key?
There can be only ONE key for each user.
How to check that LogonKey is activated?
In the System Preferences go to the Accounts folder. Click the lock image to make changes and if the password is required, the program is running.
How to specify the actions after USB removal?
Click the LogonKey icon in the Applications folder. In the main window click the Eject tab and tick off Enable Eject Action. Specify the action after USB Flash Driver removal: screensaver, logout, sleep or shutdown. Click Apply to confirm your choice.
How to set time interval to start screen saver?
In the System Preferences folder and click Desktop & Screen Saver to set the time interval.
How to require password when entering the system?
Go to System Preferences and in the window Security select the proper feature.
How to require password to unlock each System Preferences pane?

If you have lost your USB flash driver…
To unlock your Mac, type the password in the initial window manually. Go to Applications and click the LogonKey icon. In the window appeared choose the username and click the Keys button and then choose the new key from the enlisted ones. Hit Apply button and enter the password identical to the one you type in by logon procedure. Click OK and get Confirmation that new settings were successfully saved. Click OK.
NOTE: There can be only ONE key for each user. In case the wrong password was typed, you will get the warning notifying you about mistake.
If there are problems with logging in:
1.Restart your computer; press cmd key and S key simultaneously.
2.Type two following commands manually:
a) /sbin/mount-uw/ and press Enter ;
b) cp/etc/auth_copy/etc/authorization and press Enter;
3.Reboot your computer and press Enter button.
4.After reboot, type your usual password to enter computer system.
How to delete the program?
To delete LogonKey, don’t apply external uninstallers. For that purpose use ONLY LogonKey uninstaller. Find the LogonKey uninstall.dmg file and follow commands confirming your choice. Reboot your computer in the end.
How to trace all logon events?
Open up Console (/Applications/Utilities/Console.app) and select secure.log to view the record of all valid and invalid logon attempts. Select and copy Logon Key log strings.
How to define the data of Logon Key installation?
Go to the Applications folder and right click the USB Logon Key icon selecting Get information from the following list. In the left panel find the line Modified that indicates the installation data. The Last opened line informs about the last launch of the program.
Is it possible to use Logon Key only to logon in?
No, Logon Key activates now both by entering computer system and deleting files.
