To Use ProteMac KeyBag

  1. To start up the KeyBag interface, locate the KeyBag.app file in the Applications folder and double click.
  2. The main window has two options: KeyStrokes or Applications Chart.
  3. KeyStrokes Window:

    1. The KeyStrokes window lists the application, user name, time stamp, window title, and typed stroke information.
    2. At a glance you may preview this window for information.
    3. Double clicking the text in the “Typed Stroke” column will open the “Typed Stroke” window which allows you to read all the text from that instance.

NOTE: Text may be copied and pasted from the “Typed Stroke” window.
    4. To display the keystroke information for a specific application, select that application from the drop down list.
    5. By default the “KeyStrokes” window displays the keystroke information for all applications used.
    6. To display keystroke information for a specific application select that application from the drop down list. This time only the keystroke information for that application will appear.
    7. The “Application Statistic” button opens up the statistic panel and displays keystroke statistics.

    8. By default the “Application Statistic” panel shows the statistics for all applications used. Again, to display statistics for a specific application select that application from the drop down list and view the Application Statistics again. This time only statistics for that application will appear.

  4. Applications Chart:

    1. The Applications Chart window shows total number of keystrokes for each application used in the specified period of time. The information is represented in an easy to read graphical format.
    2. To select the statistics for a specific application, click back to the KeyStrokes tab, select the application from the “Application:” drop down list. When you return to the “Applications Chart” tab only the selected application will be represented.

  5. Select a time period to record. Click the “Select Time Period” to program a specific time to capture keystroke information.

  6. Using the calendar and clock icons, select the date and time period to record keystroke information and select “OK”.
  7. The “Refresh” button at the bottom of the main window will refresh the information in the active window. Use this button when changing the Application selection or whenever you wish to refresh the window information.

Exporting

ProteMac KeyBag has an export function to convert all captured data or only selected categories of data into a CSV format, HTML format or text file. This way data can easily be incorporated into reports or shared.

  1. First, make sure the main window displays the information you want to export.
  2. In the main window click the “Export…” button.

  1. From the KeyBag menu select Preferences.
